Cliff Booth release: Netflix dates and the reported IMAX limits

Netflix lists November 25 for IMAX and December 23 for streaming. October 30 reporting says Regal and Cinemark will not carry the film in that IMAX window.

Verified brief

The story in 60 seconds

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth has separate theatrical and streaming dates. Netflix’s announced global IMAX run does not mean every IMAX operator has booked the film; TheWrap reports that Regal and Cinemark are sitting out the planned window.

This brief and the full story below are based on the disclosed sources. SearchTrends Daily’s interpretation appears later under “Our take.”

Full reporting

The complete story

Netflix’s Tudum announcement lists an exclusive two-week IMAX engagement beginning November 25, 2026, followed by the streaming debut on December 23. Those are distinct release dates; the Netflix launch is not scheduled for the day the IMAX engagement starts.

In an October 30 report, TheWrap says Regal and Cinemark decided not to screen the film during that IMAX window. It reports that AMC will carry the release, alongside some smaller venues. This is dated industry reporting receiving renewed attention, rather than a newly announced cancellation of the movie.

Regal executive Brooks LeBoeuf told TheWrap that distributor commitment to theatrical exhibition and the length of exclusive windows influence how the chain allocates premium screens. The report says Regal will support The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in IMAX. The chain’s statement explains its booking position; it does not cancel Netflix’s announced release plan.

Analysis

What the evidence and search signal suggest

Our assessment: the distributor’s calendar establishes its announced timing, while the chain reporting shows why a global format deal can still leave gaps in local availability. It does not establish that every other IMAX site will screen the film, or that future bookings cannot change.

Commentary

What we think

A useful release guide should give both the date and the limits of the venue information. The label IMAX alone is not a complete cinema directory.

Analysis and commentary are SearchTrends Daily’s interpretation. They are intentionally separated from the sourced account above.

Meaning

Why this matters

The practical question is whether a particular venue is showing the film. A format announcement and an individual cinema booking are separate facts. Readers should check the actual theater’s dated listings before making plans; this briefing does not establish ticket availability at a particular location.

Background

How we got here

The new film brings Brad Pitt back as Cliff Booth after Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Netflix says David Fincher directs a new screenplay by Quentin Tarantino, with the story set in 1977. Its announced supporting cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Netflix’s source announcement is dated September 21. The theater-chain report is dated October 30. Neither date should be confused with the scheduled November theatrical opening.

Outlook

What is likely to happen next

Watch for participating cinemas to publish their own schedules and for Netflix or exhibitors to announce any changes. November 25 and December 23 remain the dates on the Netflix page reviewed for this briefing. We will update this same story for a substantive change in timing or confirmed exhibition plans.
